Minister Gurov Commemorates April Uprising Anniversary

Caretaker Prime Minister Andrey Gurov addressed the 150th anniversary of the April Uprising on Monday, stating that freedom is now a matter of choice rather than capability. Gurov reflected on the historical context, noting that 150 years prior, revolutionaries rose up to secure the right for all Bulgarians to choose, a right he observed Bulgarians exercising on Sunday. The minister emphasized that freedom requires continuous engagement.

He asserted that it is not a singular event but a constant necessity for vigilance and critical thought. According to Gurov, citizens have an obligation to remain aware and speak out when the defense of freedom is necessary. In his message, the Prime Minister paid tribute to the heroes of the April Uprising.

As part of his Facebook post, Gurov shared a video clip featuring the recitation of a letter from the Bulgarian revolutionary and poet Hristo Botev, addressed to Ivan Grudov, Ivan Kavaldzhiev, and Georgi Stranski. The statements by Minister Gurov underscored a commitment to civic vigilance, linking the historical struggle of the April Uprising to contemporary responsibilities for the nation.
