, Air Defence Missile Engine Wash Ashore in Sunny Beach Resort Area, Transported to Navy Base in Burgas

Personnel from the Burgas Naval Base recently conducted multiple investigations involving unidentified objects found near coastal areas. On Wednesday, teams discovered an air defence missile engine and an unmanned aerial vehicle (drone) washed ashore near the Sunny Beach resort. According to the Ministry of Defence, both items were deemed non-hazardous and subsequently transported to the naval base.

The operations followed prior activity on April 22, when a specialized unit assessed an object on the Sunny Beach beach. Servicemen determined this item was the booster stage of an air defence missile, which was confirmed to pose no threat before being moved to the base. Later, a separate team was deployed to survey an area northeast of Nessebar, situated approximately 150–200 meters from the shoreline.

This deployment was initiated after the Regional Directorate of the Border Police reported spotting a drone at sea. Military personnel began surveying the location overnight, continuing the following morning with support from a Bulgarian Navy boat. The crew successfully located and identified the drone, noting it was missing its nose section and contained no explosive components.

Both the missile engine and the drone were assessed by military experts and transported to the base after being cleared of any danger. These efforts were executed at the request of the Burgas Regional Administration, pursuant to directives issued by the Chief of Defence and the Navy Commander.
