Therapies, Hammam Rituals Draw Interest at Astor Garden, Aqua House Thermal & Beach near Varna

Eastern wellness treatments and traditional hammam rituals are generating significant guest interest at the Astor Garden Hotel in Sts Constantine and Helena. According to SPA Manager Nikolay Popov, the hotel’s connection to the Aqua House Thermal & Beach complex allows it to continually enhance its offerings to meet modern tourist expectations for variety and comprehensive wellness. The complex aims to improve both physical and mental well-being, providing diverse amenities including multiple pools suitable for lap swimming, alongside tailored beauty and wellness therapies.

Popov noted that while aromatherapy is frequently sought for its immediate effects, guests also benefit from mud therapy, and the management is considering incorporating algae-based treatments due to their natural health benefits. However, Popov emphasized that specific medical considerations must guide treatment choices. For clients recovering from cosmetic or invasive procedures, high humidity and steam environments, such as those found in a hammam, should be avoided.

While traditional massages are available, certain approaches derived from Chinese medicine may remain appropriate. In a broader industry context, BTA is highlighting Bulgaria’s robust spa sector through its “BG SPA: Salus per aquam, Health Through Water” feature, which covers over 200 certified spa, wellness, and medical centers. This initiative is linked to Europe’s major health tourism event, the HEALTHXCHANGE SUMMIT, scheduled for May 11–13, 2026, across several key Bulgarian resorts.

BTA will serve as the primary media partner for this event.
