For Grande Partenza Event of 109th Giro d’Italia Hosted by Bulgaria Go as Planned

Caretaker Minister of Youth and Sports, Dimitar Iliev, chaired an online working meeting with representatives from the institutions tasked with organizing the first three stages of the 2026 Giro d’Italia cycling race in Bulgaria. According to the Ministry of Sports, the meeting addressed current organizational progress, coordination among the involved bodies, and forthcoming key activities. Minister Iliev reviewed the preparedness of all participating parties, stressing that effective inter-institutional coordination is vital for the successful staging of the event.

He acknowledged the commitment shown thus far, stating that while hosting an event of this magnitude presents a significant challenge, the joint efforts of all institutions ensure continued progress toward a successful competition. Attendees confirmed that preparations are advancing according to the established timeline, with necessary measures being implemented for security, logistics, and overall organization. Discussions also covered safety protocols for both participants and spectators, alongside ensuring the smooth conduct of the competition.

The Giro d’Italia is scheduled to commence on May 8 in Nessebar on the Black Sea. The route will subsequently pass through Burgas, Veliko Tarnovo, and Plovdiv, concluding in Sofia on May 10.
