Nasar Wins Fourth European Weightlifting Title

Bulgarian weightlifter Karlos Nasar secured his fourth European title at the European Championships held in Batumi. Competing in the men’s 94 kg weight class, Nasar achieved a total of 386 kg to claim the overall victory. Nasar established an early lead in the snatch with a lift of 176 kg, followed by a 210 kg lift in the clean and jerk.

These performances in both disciplines contributed to his dominant overall performance at the European event. In the snatch, Nasar confirmed his gold medal lift of 176 kg after opening with a lift of 170 kg. Although he attempted a world record lift of 183 kg in his final attempt, this lift was unsuccessful.

For the clean and jerk, Nasar’s initial lift of 210 kg was not validated by the judges after review; however, he successfully lifted the same weight on his second attempt. For his concluding lift, Nasar targeted a world record total with an attempt of 223 kg, but this lift was also unsuccessful. The competition saw Ara Aganyan of Armenia finish in second place with a total of 381 kg, and Romain Imadouchene of France secured the bronze medal with a total of 370 kg.

This marks a significant achievement for Nasar, solidifying his status as a top competitor on the European stage.
