Killed, 14 Injured in Drone Attack in Odesa

An overnight drone attack occurred in the Black Sea city of Odesa, Southern Ukraine, resulting in reports of two people killed and 14 injured, according to Oleh Kiper, Head of the Odesa Regional Military Administration. Kiper stated that rescuers from the State Emergency Service evacuated 36 residents, including two children, from the affected area. The consequences of the Russian assault on Odesa included significant damage to residential structures and an incident involving a merchant ship flying the flag of Saint Kitts and Nevis, which was en route to a port in Greater Odesa.

A fire broke out on the vessel, but the crew successfully extinguished it, with no reports of casualties from the ship. Furthermore, Kiper reported that at least three residential buildings sustained substantial damage, with reports of destroyed facades, damaged apartments, and shattered windows. Authorities confirmed that all relevant services are currently working to manage the aftermath of the overnight attack.

Separately, demographic information was provided regarding the local population. According to the official census, Bulgarians constitute a significant community in the Odesa Region, numbering over 150,000, making them the third largest population group in Ukraine in 2001. Approximately 50,000 to 60,000 Bulgarians reside specifically in the city of Odesa.

The largest concentration of the Bulgarian population is noted in the Bolhrad, Izmail, and Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi districts.
