& Caravaning Expo 2026 Opens with Nearly 100 Exhibitors

The Camping & Caravaning Expo 2026 commenced on Friday and will continue through Sunday at the former Sofia Land park area, organized by Camping.BG. Marking its twelfth consecutive year, the expo features 99 exhibitors from Bulgaria, Greece, Romania, and Germany, and is anticipated to draw over 12,000 visitors. The event showcases the latest trends in recreational vehicles, including campers, caravans, and camping gear, alongside water sports and cycling products.

According to Veselin Valev, founder of Camping.BG, interest in camping tourism in Bulgaria is increasing. He noted that equipment costs vary widely, ranging from approximately EUR 100 to EUR 100,000, with campers and caravans representing significant investments. Valev differentiated between vehicle types, advising that campers suit travel and short stops, while caravans are better for extended stays in one location.

He also recommended that novices begin at regulated campgrounds for amenities like showers and toilets, rather than wild camping. The expo provides educational resources, including advice on van conversion, solar systems, and responsible travel. On Sunday, the focus is on sustainable camping, organized with the For the Earth environmental association.

Infrastructure, particularly quality roads, was highlighted as a key challenge for the sector’s development. The event’s programming is varied, featuring expert presentations, children’s activities, and a sports area. Furthermore, attendees can learn about the logistics of travel, such as adhering to weight limits when packing for a trip.
