& Caravaning Expo 2026 Opens with Nearly 100 Exhibitors

The Camping & Caravaning Expo 2026 opened Friday at the former Sofia Land, running through Sunday. Organized by Camping.BG, this forum marks the 12th consecutive year of the event. This year, 99 exhibitors from Bulgaria, Greece, Romania, and Germany are participating, with an expected attendance exceeding 12,000 visitors.

The expo showcases the latest trends in recreational vehicles, including campers, caravans, and various outdoor and water sports products. Veselin Valev, founder of Camping.BG, noted a growing interest in camping tourism in Bulgaria, citing increases in website traffic and event attendance data. He highlighted the wide price range in the sector, noting equipment can range from approximately EUR 100 to EUR 100,000, with campers starting around EUR 50,000.

Valev differentiated between vehicle types: a camper is described as a self-contained unit suitable for short stops, whereas a caravan requires towing and is better for extended stays in one location. For first-time visitors, organizers recommend using regulated campgrounds, which provide amenities like showers and hot water, over wild camping. Bulgaria has over 200 campsites, with many modern thermal options available.

Valev also pointed out that infrastructure, particularly quality roads, remains a challenge for the sector’s development. The expo features a diverse program, including workshops on converting vans into campervans and solar systems. Saturday will cover topics like renting versus buying.

Sunday focuses on responsible camping in partnership with For the Earth. The event aims to educate attendees on sustainable travel practices through presentations covering global destinations. The presence of numerous exhibitors underscores the industry’s scope, providing practical advice for anyone interested in caravaning.
