The Camping & Caravaning Expo 2026 commenced on Friday and will continue through Sunday at the former Sofia Land park area. Organized by Camping.BG, this event marks the 12th consecutive year, having begun in 2018. This year, the expo features 99 exhibitors representing Bulgaria, Greece, Romania, and Germany, and is projected to draw over 12,000 visitors.
The exhibition showcases the latest trends in recreational vehicles, including campers, caravans, and camping gear, alongside water sports and cycling products. According to Veselin Valev of Camping.BG, interest in camping tourism in Bulgaria is increasing. He noted that while equipment prices vary widely, ranging from approximately EUR 100 to EUR 100,000 for campers, the choice between a camper and a caravan depends on the desired vacation style—campers are suited for travel, while caravans are better for longer stays in one location.
Organizers advise beginners to utilize regulated campgrounds, which offer amenities like showers and hot water, rather than attempting wild camping. Bulgaria currently has over 200 campsites, with inland locations often boasting higher service levels, including modern thermal campgrounds. The expo provides practical advice for attendees, covering topics such as transforming vans into campervans and solar systems.
On Sunday, the focus shifts to responsible camping, an initiative partnered with the For the Earth environmental association, featuring presentations on sustainable travel across various global destinations. Overall, the event serves as a hub for the growing industry, attracting exhibitors and visitors interested in the lifestyle aspects of caravaning.
