Editor-in-Chief Tina Mari Flem Elected President of Media Innovation Network MINDS

Tina Mari Flem, the editor-in-chief of the Norwegian News Agency, has been elected as the new president of MINDS, the international media innovation network. The election took place on Thursday afternoon during MINDS’ annual general meeting in Vienna. Flem succeeds the former chief executive officer of the Finnish News Agency, whose term had concluded.

During the proceedings, BTA Director General Kiril Valchev congratulated Flem on her election and presented her with the English-language edition of the book The Real News: Stories on Life 1898-2023, published to mark the 125th anniversary of BTA. BTA joined MINDS on April 23, 2022, following a unanimous decision by the MINDS General Assembly in Helsinki. This addition placed Bulgaria’s national news agency alongside major international news providers such as Reuters, Agence France-Presse, and the Associated Press.

Currently, BTA maintains agreements with 16 agencies that are members of MINDS. These partnerships include Anadolu Agency, ANP, Athens-Macedonian News Agency, ANSA, AFP, AP, Austria Presse Agentur, Belga, Deutsche Presse-Agentur, EFE, Kyodo News, LETA, Lusa, Polish Press Agency, Press Trust of India, and Reuters. The appointment of Flem to the chief leadership role continues to strengthen global news collaboration.
