Editor-in-Chief Tina Mari Flem Elected President of Media Innovation Network MINDS

Tina Mari Flem, the current editor-in-chief of the Norwegian News Agency, has been elected as the president of MINDS, a global media innovation network. Flem succeeds the former chief executive officer of the Finnish News Agency, whose tenure has concluded. The election took place on Thursday afternoon during the annual general meeting of MINDS held in Vienna.

During the proceedings, BTA Director General Kiril Valchev congratulated Flem on her election and presented her with a copy of The Real News: Stories on Life 1898-2023, a book published to mark the 125th anniversary of the Bulgarian News Agency (BTA). BTA joined the MINDS network as its 23rd member at the end of April 2022. This membership followed a unanimous decision by the MINDS General Assembly during the organization’s 32nd conference in Helsinki, which operated under the theme “Stronger Together – Collaboration and sharing for success.” This inclusion positioned Bulgaria’s national news agency alongside major international news providers such as Reuters, Agence France-Presse, and the Associated Press.

BTA currently maintains agreements with 16 agencies that are members of MINDS. These include Anadolu Agency, ANP, Athens-Macedonian News Agency, ANSA, AFP, AP, Austria Presse Agentur, Belga, Deutsche Presse-Agentur, EFE, Kyodo News, LETA, Lusa, Polish Press Agency, Press Trust of India, and Reuters. The election of Flem to this key leadership role highlights the ongoing collaboration within the global news industry.
