Speaking after attending a Conference of Presidents and Speakers of Parliaments of the Adriatic & Ionian Initiative in Skopje, the President emphasized the necessity of a regional approach in bilateral relations. President Siljanovska-Davkova stated that North Macedonia remains committed to developing “friendly and constructive relations” and fostering mutual understanding regarding the requirements for European Union enlargement.
Regarding the election results, she informed reporters that she had messaged Radev and subsequently received a call from him. She noted, “I wished him success and said I believe that such strong support is a guarantee of stability,” adding that Bulgarian citizens likely view him as a stabilizing figure for the nation. She expressed hope that this support would facilitate his ability to form a government and implement his agenda, stating, “I am looking forward to arranging a meeting.”
The focus within Macedonia on the election outcome in Bulgaria has primarily centered on the potential impact on Bulgaria’s stance concerning the country’s path toward EU membership.
Earlier, Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski also congratulated Radev on his win, stressing the importance of dialogue and maintaining positive neighborly relations. The remarks from the Macedonian President underscore the commitment of North Macedonia to advancing dialogue within the region.
