Bostandjiev Becomes New PFC Levski Sofia Owner

Bulgarian businessman Atanas Bostandjiev has assumed ownership of PFC Levski Sofia, succeeding the outgoing majority shareholder, Nasko Sirakov, as announced Friday. While Bostandjiev takes the ownership role, Sirakov will retain the position of club president, though he will no longer hold shares in the club. Sirakov stated his departure from shareholding followed efforts to stabilize the club during a critical period, emphasizing that leadership continuity is vital for Levski’s future.

Bostandjiev expressed his commitment to preserving the club’s identity and independence while aiming for sustained success both on the pitch and in operational management. He welcomed Sirakov’s continued role as president. A cornerstone of the future plan for the Levski club is the development of the new Georgi Asparuhov Stadium.

Levski and the architectural and engineering firm IPA have unveiled the concept, which carries an estimated total investment of EUR 120 million. The stadium is designed to meet a capacity of 24,718 seats under Bulgarian Football Union guidelines and 23,032 under UEFA standards. Construction is slated to commence in spring 2027.

Furthermore, the complex is designed to function as a multi-use venue, capable of hosting events such as concerts for up to 40,000 people, alongside public park areas. Bostandjiev, founder and CEO of Gemcorp Capital, focuses on emerging markets. His professional history includes roles at VTB Capital in the UK and as a partner at Goldman Sachs in London, where he co-headed emerging markets business across several regions.
