Bostandjiev Becomes New PFC Levski Sofia Owner

Bulgarian businessman Atanas Bostandjiev has acquired majority ownership of PFC Levski Sofia, as announced by the club’s outgoing majority shareholder, Nasko Sirakov, on Friday. While Bostandjiev assumes the ownership role, Sirakov will retain the position of club president. Sirakov stated his decision to divest his shares stemmed from his successful efforts in stabilizing the club during a challenging period, ensuring its continuity and preservation of identity.

He emphasized that maintaining leadership stability is crucial for the future of the Levski club. A cornerstone of the club’s future strategy involves the development of the new Georgi Asparuhov Stadium. The stadium is designed to accommodate 24,718 spectators under Bulgarian Football Union guidelines and 23,032 under UEFA standards.

Construction is slated to commence in the spring of 2027. Furthermore, the facility is planned as a multifunctional complex, capable of hosting events such as concerts for up to 40,000 people, alongside enhanced public park areas. Atanas Bostandjiev is the founder and CEO of Gemcorp Capital, established in 2014, focusing on emerging markets.

His prior experience includes serving as CEO of VTB Capital in the UK and holding a partnership at Goldman Sachs in London, where he co-headed the emerging markets business across Central and Eastern Europe, the Middle East, and Africa.
