-Macedonian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Launched in Sofia

The Bulgarian-Macedonian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BMCCI) was officially launched on Friday during a ceremony held at the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI). Attendees included Deputy Minister of Economy and Industry Anton Kostadinov, the Ambassador of the Republic of North Macedonia to Bulgaria, and numerous business representatives from both nations. Atanas Radev will serve as the inaugural chair of the new bilateral body.

During the event, Radev emphasized the importance of establishing strong connections between the two nations. Kostadinov noted that while the existing trade turnover between Bulgaria and North Macedonia stands at EUR 1.3 billion, this figure is considered low relative to the potential of their economic relationship. He urged a pragmatic dialogue among business organizations to deepen cooperation in sectors such as energy, construction, pharmaceuticals, tourism, and agriculture.

Ambassador Agneza Rusi-Popovska highlighted the BMCCI’s launch as a positive indicator for unlocking trade potential. She stressed that Bulgaria serves as a vital trading partner and a gateway to the European Union for North Macedonia, linking deeper economic ties to the region’s integration processes. She also pointed to manufacturing, transport, and digital services as key areas for enhanced cooperation, while noting that improved infrastructure remains crucial for long-term investment.

Ivan Todorov, Vice President of the BCCI, echoed the need for enhanced connectivity across road, rail, and air transport. The newly formed chamber plans to host two such business forums annually—one in each country
