World Dance Collective to Perform in Munich Festival

The World Dance Collective Gurbetchii is scheduled to participate in the 11th edition of the traveling festival, Expats Join Hands in Worldwide Dance, which will take place at BMW Park in Munich from May 15 to 17. During this event, the ensemble will premiere a mini-performance titled “Return and Celebration after the Balkan War,” according to Teodosi Teodosiev, the artistic director and founder of the Gurbetchii World Dance Collective. Teodosiev stated that the performance transcends mere dance, representing a return to cultural roots, strength, and identity regardless of geographical location.

He expressed gratitude for the invitation to Munich, which was extended by the Lazarka ensemble, led by Plamen Petkov, the artistic director and organizer of the current festival edition. He also acknowledged the support of the dancers, noting their commitment to the Bulgarian spirit across international borders. The festival, Expats Join Hands in Worldwide Dance, is dedicated to amateur folklore ensembles performing outside of Bulgaria.

The initiative originated with the Ot Izvora group in Lyon, France, which hosted both the inaugural 2015 edition and the tenth edition in 2025. Organizers anticipate a significant turnout for the 11th Munich event, expecting over 100 dance ensembles and more than 4,000 attendees. The Bulgarian News Agency (BTA) serves as the official media partner for the festival and will feature all participating groups.
