World Dance Collective to Perform in Munich Festival

The World Dance Collective Gurbetchii is scheduled to participate in the 11th edition of the traveling festival, Expats Join Hands in Worldwide Dance. The event will take place from May 15 to 17 at BMW Park in Munich. During this festival, the ensemble plans to present the premiere of its mini-performance titled “Return and Celebration after the Balkan War.”

Teodosi Teodosiev, the founder and artistic director of the Gurbetchii World Dance Collective, stated that the performance encompasses more than just dance.

He described it as a return to fundamental identity and strength, irrespective of geographical location. Teodosiev noted that the invitation to Munich came from the Lazarka ensemble, which is organized by Plamen Petkov, the artistic director and organizer of this year’s festival. He expressed gratitude to the organizers for their confidence and to the dancers for their dedication, emphasizing the enduring nature of the Bulgarian spirit.

The Expats Join Hands in Worldwide Dance festival is dedicated to amateur folklore ensembles performing outside of Bulgaria. The initiative was established by the Ot Izvora group in Lyon, France, which hosted the inaugural event in 2015 and the tenth edition in 2025. For the 11th edition in Munich, organizers anticipate attendance from over 100 dance ensembles and more than 4,000 guests.

The Bulgarian News Agency (BTA) is serving as the official media partner for the event and will provide coverage of all participating groups in this world dance showcase.
