, Air Defence Missile Engine Wash Ashore in Sunny Beach Resort Area, Transported to Navy Base in Burgas

Teams operating from the Burgas Naval Base recently recovered two items—an air defence missile engine and a drone—from the coastal area, according to the Ministry of Defence. These materials were confirmed to pose no danger and were subsequently transported to the naval base for analysis. The initial incident occurred on April 22, when a specialized unit from the Burgas Naval Base conducted an operation on the Sunny Beach resort beach.

Servicemen successfully identified an object as the booster stage of an air defence missile. After confirming it was safe, the component was moved to the base. Later that week, another specialized team was dispatched northeast of Nessebar to survey an area located 150–200 meters from the shoreline.

This deployment followed reports from the Regional Directorate of the Border Police regarding an unmanned aerial vehicle spotted at sea. Military personnel began the search at night, continuing the effort the following morning with support from a Bulgarian Navy vessel. The boat crew located and identified the drone, which was observed to be missing its nose section and lacked any explosive components.

This device was also deemed non-hazardous and brought back to the Burgas Naval Base. These coordinated efforts were executed at the request of the Burgas Regional Administration, following directives issued by the Chief of Defence and the Navy Commander. The successful recovery operations underscore the ongoing security vigilance maintained by the military in the region.
