Personnel from the Burgas Naval Base conducted recent operations involving the recovery of unidentified objects from coastal areas. On April 22, a specialized team addressed an object found on the beach at the Sunny Beach resort. Military personnel identified this item as the booster stage of an air defence missile, confirming it posed no threat before transporting it to the naval base.
Subsequently, a second operation was launched when the Regional Directorate of the Border Police reported sighting an unmanned aerial vehicle (drone) at sea. In response, a specialized team from the Burgas Naval Base was deployed to survey an area located approximately 150–200 meters northeast of Nessebar. The search commenced at night and continued into the following morning with assistance from a Bulgarian Navy boat.
During the survey, the crew located and identified the drone, which was noted to be missing its nose section and lacked any explosive components. Military personnel assessed that the drone did not present a danger and secured it at the base. These recovery efforts were executed by Navy personnel at the request of the Burgas Regional Administration, acting under directives from the Chief of Defence and the Navy Commander.
The successful handling and identification of both the missile component and the drone underscore the ongoing security measures maintained by the base in the region.
