-Based Sovatchii Folk Group to Perform Southeast Bulgarian Dances in Munich

The Cyprus-based folk formation Sovatchii is scheduled to participate in the 11th edition of the traveling festival, Expats Join Hands in Worldwide Dance. The event will take place at BMW Park in Munich from May 15 to 17. According to the group’s artistic director, Teodosi Teodosiev, Sovatchii will present a performance as a камерна formation.

The performance will feature a selection from ‘Dances from Southeast Bulgaria,’ choreographed by Todor Bekirski and set to music by Stefan Chapkanov, described as a piece with a strong stage presence and powerful emotional impact. Sovatchii was established on October 1, 2015, by Teodosiev, who remains its artistic director and choreographer. Over its operational years, the group has become an active organizer of major annual festivals in Cyprus.

A core focus of the group is uniting Bulgarian school and amateur ensembles, alongside singers and musicians spanning various age groups. The festival, Expats Join Hands in Worldwide Dance, is organized specifically for amateur folklore ensembles performing outside of Bulgaria. The initiative was initiated by the Ot Izvora group in Lyon, France, which hosted both the inaugural event in 2015 and the tenth edition in 2025.

The upcoming 11th edition in Munich is anticipated to host over 100 dance ensembles and an audience exceeding 4,000 guests. The Bulgarian News Agency (BTA) serves as the official media partner for the event and will provide coverage of all participating groups.
