The Cyprus-based folk formation Sovatchii is scheduled to participate in the 11th edition of the traveling festival, Expats Join Hands in Worldwide Dance. The event will take place at BMW Park in Munich from May 15 to May 17. According to the group’s artistic director, Teodosi Teodosiev, Sovatchii will perform as a камерна ensemble.

Their performance will feature a segment of “Dances from Southeast Bulgaria,” choreographed by Todor Bekirski and set to music by Stefan Chapkanov. Teodosiev noted that the piece is characterized by its strong stage presence and powerful emotional impact. Sovatchii was established on October 1, 2015, by Teodosiev, who concurrently serves as its artistic director and choreographer.

Over time, the group has become recognized for organizing significant annual festivals within Cyprus. A core focus of the formation is uniting Bulgarian school and amateur ensembles, alongside singers and musicians from various age demographics. The Expats Join Hands in Worldwide Dance festival is dedicated to amateur folklore ensembles performing outside of Bulgaria.

The initiative originated with the Ot Izvora group in Lyon, France, which hosted both the inaugural 2015 edition and the tenth edition in 2025. The upcoming 11th iteration in Munich anticipates attendance from over 100 dance ensembles and more than 4,000 guests. The Bulgarian News Agency (BTA) is the official media partner for the event and will provide coverage of all participating groups.
