The Cyprus-based folk formation Sovatchii is scheduled to participate in the 11th edition of the traveling festival Expats Join Hands in Worldwide Dance. This event will take place from May 15 to 17 at BMW Park in Munich. According to the group’s artistic director, Teodosi Teodosiev, Sovatchii will perform as a kamerná formation.
Their presentation will feature a segment from ‘Dances from Southeast Bulgaria,’ choreographed by Todor Bekirski and set to music by Stefan Chapkanov. Teodosiev noted that the piece possesses a strong stage presence and powerful emotional impact. Sovatchii was established on October 1, 2015, by Teodosiev, who remains its artistic director and choreographer.
Over its history, the group has become an active organizer of significant annual festivals within Cyprus. A core mission of the formation is to unite Bulgarian school and amateur ensembles, alongside singers and musicians from various age demographics. The Expats Join Hands in Worldwide Dance festival is organized for amateur folklore ensembles performing outside of Bulgaria.
The initiative was initially launched by the Ot Izvora group in Lyon, France, which hosted both the first edition in 2015 and the tenth edition in 2025. Organizers anticipate that the 11th Munich event will host over 100 dance ensembles and accommodate more than 4,000 attendees. The Bulgarian News Agency (BTA) serves as the official media partner for the event and will provide coverage of all participating groups.
