The Cyprus-based folk ensemble Sovatchii is scheduled to participate in the 11th edition of the traveling festival, Expats Join Hands in Worldwide Dance. This event will take place from May 15 to May 17 at BMW Park in Munich. According to the group’s artistic director, Teodosi Teodosiev, Sovatchii will present a performance as a камерна formation.
The performance will feature a segment from “Dances from Southeast Bulgaria,” choreographed by Todor Bekirski and set to music by Stefan Chapkanov, described as a piece with significant stage presence and emotional impact. The Sovatchii folk formation was established on October 1, 2015, by Teodosiev, who concurrently serves as its artistic director and choreographer. Over its operational history, the group has become an active organizer of major annual festivals across Cyprus.
A core mission of the ensemble is to unite Bulgarian school and amateur dance groups, alongside singers and musicians from various age demographics. The Expats Join Hands in Worldwide Dance festival is dedicated to amateur folklore ensembles performing outside of Bulgaria. The initiative was initially launched by the Ot Izvora group in Lyon, France, which hosted both the inaugural event in 2015 and the tenth edition in 2025.
The upcoming 11th edition in Munich is anticipated to host over 100 dance ensembles and an audience exceeding 4,000 attendees. The Bulgarian News Agency (BTA) is serving as the official media partner for the event, responsible for presenting all participating groups.
