-Based Sovatchii Folk Group to Perform Southeast Bulgarian Dances in Munich

The Cyprus-based folk formation Sovatchii is scheduled to participate in the 11th edition of the traveling festival Expats Join Hands in Worldwide Dance. This event will take place at BMW Park in Munich from May 15 to 17. According to the group’s artistic director, Teodosi Teodosiev, Sovatchii will perform as a kamernna formation.

Their performance will feature a segment from ‘Dances from Southeast Bulgaria,’ which was choreographed by Todor Bekirski and accompanied by music from Stefan Chapkanov, a piece noted for its strong stage presence and emotional impact. Sovatchii was established on October 1, 2015, by Teodosiev, who concurrently serves as the group’s artistic director and choreographer. Over its operational history, the based group has become an active organizer of significant annual festivals across Cyprus.

A core objective of the formation is uniting Bulgarian school and amateur ensembles, alongside singers and musicians spanning various age demographics. The Expats Join Hands in Worldwide Dance festival is specifically organized for and by amateur folklore ensembles performing outside of Bulgaria. The initiative originated with the Ot Izvora group in Lyon, France, which hosted both the inaugural edition in 2015 and the tenth edition in 2025.

The upcoming 11th edition in Munich anticipates attendance from over 100 dance ensembles and an estimated 4,000 guests. The Bulgarian News Agency (BTA) is serving as the official media partner for the event and will provide coverage of all participating groups.
