The Cyprus-based folk formation Sovatchii is scheduled to participate in the 11th edition of the traveling festival, Expats Join Hands in Worldwide Dance. The event will take place from May 15 to 17 at BMW Park in Munich. According to the group’s artistic director, Teodosi Teodosiev, the performance will feature a chamber presentation of “Dances from Southeast Bulgaria,” a piece choreographed by Todor Bekirski and accompanied by music from Stefan Chapkanov, noted for its strong stage presence and emotional depth.
The Sovatchii formation was established on October 1, 2015, by Teodosiev, who concurrently serves as the artistic director and choreographer. Beyond its participation in international festivals, the group is recognized for organizing major annual events within Cyprus. Its core mission involves uniting Bulgarian school and amateur ensembles, alongside singers and musicians from various age demographics.
The Expats Join Hands festival is dedicated to amateur folklore ensembles performing outside of Bulgaria. The initiative was originally launched by the Ot Izvora group in Lyon, France, which hosted both the inaugural edition in 2015 and the tenth edition in 2025. For the 11th iteration in Munich, organizers anticipate attendance from over 100 dance ensembles and an expected audience of more than 4,000 guests.
