The National Council of the Yes, Bulgaria party, a component of the Democratic Bulgaria coalition with Continue the Change (CC-DB), has mandated the drafting of a formal coalition agreement with its partners. According to the party’s press office on Friday, the current operational structure lacks a comprehensive agreement, and the proposed document aims to establish clear governance and decision-making protocols. This agreement is set to detail the composition of coalition management bodies, decision-making rules, guidelines for the parliamentary group’s activities, criteria for candidate nominations, and a unified personnel policy.
Furthermore, it seeks to abolish party quotas in future Bulgaria elections. A significant focus of the decision is developing a “roadmap for the creation of a unified democratic centre-right political entity,” which may involve parties outside the existing coalition. The National Council also directed the party’s Executive Council to begin preparations for the upcoming presidential elections, working to secure support for a common democratic centre-right candidate swiftly.
Additionally, the decision outlines specific priorities for Members of Parliament elected under the “Yes, Bulgaria” quota in the new parliament. These priorities include maintaining a firm opposition stance against excessive power concentration, advocating for right-wing fiscal measures in the draft state budget, and introducing a new Judiciary Act with updated criteria for the Supreme Judicial Council. Other stated goals involve advancing anti-corruption legislation, calling for the removal of state security protection for GERB leader Boyko Borissov and Movement for Rights and Freedoms leader Delyan Peevski, and implementing healthcare reforms.
These reforms include mandating public tenders for medicines in private hospitals and introducing SMS notifications for health services.
