, Bulgaria Pushes for Formal Coalition Agreement of Continue the Change and Democratic Bulgaria and Common Centre-Right Presidential Candidate

The National Council of the “Yes, Bulgaria” party, a component of the Democratic Bulgaria/CC-DB coalition, has directed the party to propose a formal coalition agreement to its partners. The party’s press office stated that the current lack of such an agreement necessitates the document to establish clear governing structures and decision-making protocols for the coalition. This agreement is slated to define management bodies, decision-making rules, parliamentary group procedures, candidate nomination criteria, and a unified personnel policy, while also aiming to eliminate party quotas in future elections.

Furthermore, the council emphasized developing a roadmap for establishing a unified democratic centre-right political entity, potentially involving parties outside the existing alliance in Bulgaria. In preparation for the upcoming presidential elections, the National Council also instructed the Executive Council to organize support for a common democratic centre-right candidate as soon as possible. The decision also outlined specific priorities for “Yes, Bulgaria” Members of Parliament in the new parliament.

These include maintaining a clear opposition stance against excessive centralization of power, advocating for right-wing fiscal measures in the draft state budget, and advancing a new Judiciary Act with updated criteria for the Supreme Judicial Council. Additional priorities involve pushing anti-corruption legislation previously proposed by the party, calling for the removal of state security protection for key political figures, and implementing healthcare reforms. These healthcare measures specifically include mandating public tenders for medicines in private hospitals and introducing SMS notifications for health services.
