, Bulgaria Pushes for Formal Coalition Agreement of Continue the Change and Democratic Bulgaria and Common Centre-Right Presidential Candidate

The National Council of the Yes, Bulgaria party, a component of the Democratic Bulgaria coalition with Continue the Change (CC-DB), has mandated the party to draft a formal coalition agreement for its partners. According to a statement released Friday, the current operation of the coalition lacks a definitive agreement, and the proposed document aims to establish clear governance and decision-making structures. This agreement is expected to detail coalition management bodies, decision-making protocols, guidelines for the parliamentary group’s activities, candidate nomination criteria, and a unified personnel policy.

Furthermore, it intends to eliminate party quotas in future elections. A significant component of the decision is the development of a “roadmap for the creation of a unified democratic centre-right political entity,” involving the coalition members and potentially external participants in Bulgaria. Additionally, the National Council directed the party’s Executive Council to prepare for the upcoming presidential elections, focusing on securing support for a common democratic centre-right presidential candidate swiftly.

The decision also outlines specific priorities for Members of Parliament elected under the Yes, Bulgaria quota in the new parliament. These priorities include maintaining a clear opposition stance against excessive power concentration, proposing right-wing fiscal measures in the state budget draft, and introducing a new Judiciary Act with updated criteria for selecting Supreme Judicial Council members. Other goals involve advancing anti-corruption legislation previously proposed by Yes, Bulgaria lawmakers, calling for the removal of state security protection for Boyko Borissov and Delyan Peevski, and implementing healthcare measures such as mandatory public tenders for medicines in private hospitals and introducing SMS notifications for health services.
