& Caravaning Expo 2026 Opens with Nearly 100 Exhibitors

The Camping & Caravaning Expo 2026 commenced on Friday and continues through Sunday at the former Sofia Land park area. Organized by Camping.BG, this event marks the 12th annual forum, which began in 2018. This year, 99 exhibitors from Bulgaria, Greece, Romania, and Germany are participating, with an expected attendance of over 12,000 visitors.

The expo showcases the latest trends in campers, caravans, recreational vehicles, and related outdoor activities, including camping and cycling. According to Veselin Valev, founder of Camping.BG, interest in camping tourism in Bulgaria is increasing. Valev noted that equipment costs vary widely, ranging from approximately EUR 100 to EUR 100,000 for campers, with trailers offering a more budget-friendly alternative requiring towing.

He advised that campers are better suited for mobile travel, while caravans are better for extended stays in one location. Beginners are recommended to start at regulated campgrounds, which offer amenities such as showers and toilets, rather than attempting wild camping. The expo features over 200 campsites in Bulgaria, with a focus on improving infrastructure, as better roads are cited as a key challenge for developing the sector.

While Bulgarian tourists increasingly visit campsites abroad, especially in Greece, the event also highlights local growth. The 2026 expo program includes children’s activities, expert presentations on topics like van conversion and solar systems, and a focus on responsible camping. Activities throughout the weekend will cover global travel examples and educational games promoting sustainable travel practices.
