-Day Marking of April Uprising Launched in Panagyurishte with 150 Greetings from Around the World Initiative

Three-day commemorations marking the 150th anniversary of the April Uprising commenced in Panagyurishte on Thursday. The festivities began with the “150 Greetings from Around the World” initiative, featuring video messages contributed by children and youth from various global locations. Following this, a theatrical performance was staged, adapted from Stefan Tsanev’s work, Children of the World.

During his address, Panagyurishte Mayor Zhelyazko Gagov thanked the attendees for their commitment to preserving historical memory. He noted that the participation demonstrated a connection to something larger than the immediate community: Bulgaria. Attendees included high-profile figures such as BTA Director General Kiril Valchev, Bulgarian National Radio Director General Milen Mitev, Professor Georgi Valchev, Rector of the St Kliment Ohridski University of Sofia, and journalist Boyko Vassilev.

Earlier that day, participants attended a conference organized by BTA and hosted at the Panagyurishte History Museum, focusing on the 150th anniversary. The celebrations are scheduled to continue with a 150 Flamesshow event at the 20 April Square in Panagyurishte.
