-Day Marking of April Uprising Launched in Panagyurishte with 150 Greetings from Around the World Initiative

Three-day commemorations marking the 150th anniversary of the April Uprising commenced on Thursday at the Memorial House Theatre in Panagyurishte. The initial events featured the “150 Greetings from Around the World” initiative, where children and youth from various global locations participated through video messages. Following this, a theatrical performance based on Stefan Tsanev’s work, Children of the World, was staged for attendees.

During his address, Panagyurishte Mayor Zhelyazko Gagov expressed gratitude to those present for their commitment to preserving historical memory. He noted that the collective participation underscored a shared identity, stating, “we are part of something much bigger than us: Bulgaria.”

The event drew notable figures, including BTA Director General Kiril Valchev, Bulgarian National Radio (BNR) Director General Milen Mitev, Professor Georgi Valchev, Rector of the St Kliment Ohridski University of Sofia, and journalist Boyko Vassilev, a presenter for the Bulgarian National Television’s Panorama talk show. Earlier in the day, participants attended a conference organized by BTA and hosted by the Panagyurishte History Museum, dedicated to the 150th anniversary of the Uprising.

The commemorative activities are continuing, with the celebrations scheduled to include a “150 Flamesshow” at the 20 April Square in Panagyurishte. These events highlight the enduring historical significance of the uprising for the community and the broader region.
