Editor-in-Chief Tina Mari Flem Elected President of Media Innovation Network MINDS

Tina Mari Flem, the Editor-in-Chief of the Norwegian News Agency, has been elected president of MINDS, the international media innovation network. This appointment succeeds the previous chief executive officer of the Finnish News Agency. The election took place on Thursday afternoon during the annual general meeting of MINDS held in Vienna.

Following the election, BTA Director General Kiril Valchev congratulated Flem and presented her with the English-language edition of the book The Real News: Stories on Life 1898-2023, which marks the 125th anniversary of BTA. BTA recently joined the organization, becoming the 23rd member in late April 2022. This accession followed a unanimous decision by the MINDS General Assembly during the 32nd conference in Helsinki, which operated under the theme “Stronger Together – Collaboration and sharing for success.” This inclusion places Bulgaria’s national news agency alongside prominent international providers such as Reuters, Agence France-Presse, and the Associated Press.

The network facilitates extensive cooperation among its members. BTA currently maintains agreements with sixteen agencies belonging to MINDS, including Anadolu Agency, ANP, Athens-Macedonian News Agency, ANSA, AFP, AP, Austria Presse Agentur, Belga, Deutsche Presse-Agentur, EFE, Kyodo News, LETA, Lusa, Polish Press Agency, Press Trust of India, and Reuters. Flem’s leadership is set to guide the collaborative efforts of these major global news sources.
