Editor-in-Chief Tina Mari Flem Elected President of Media Innovation Network MINDS

Tina Mari Flem, the editor-in-chief of the Norwegian News Agency, has been elected president of MINDS, the international media innovation network. This leadership role brings together numerous prominent news agencies globally, including the Bulgarian News Agency (BTA). Flem assumes the presidency following the conclusion of the term for the previous chief executive officer of the Finnish News Agency.

The election took place on Thursday afternoon during MINDS’ annual general meeting held in Vienna. During the event, BTA Director General Kiril Valchev congratulated Flem on her election and presented her with the English-language edition of The Real News: Stories on Life 1898-2023, a publication marking BTA’s 125th anniversary. BTA significantly bolstered its standing within the network when it became the 23rd member in late April 2022.

This admission followed a unanimous decision by the MINDS General Assembly in Helsinki, held during the organization’s 32nd conference. This inclusion positioned the Bulgarian national news agency alongside leading global entities such as Reuters, Agence France-Presse, and the Associated Press. BTA currently maintains agreements with 16 agencies that are members of MINDS.

This extensive reach demonstrates the collaborative nature of the international news sector. The selection of a new chief leader underscores the continued importance of cross-border cooperation in disseminating accurate and timely news content across the globe.
