Election Commission: Based on 96.41% of Tally Sheets, Progressive Bulgaria Leads with 44.7%, GERB-UDF Second with 13.4%

The Central Election Commission (CEC) has released preliminary results concerning the parliamentary election held on April 19. These initial findings are based on the processing of 96.41% of the tally sheets collected from section election commissions and subsequently processed at the constituency level as of 11:00 am on Monday. The preliminary data indicated which parties and coalitions successfully crossed the mandated 4% electoral threshold.

The CEC operates under specific legal guidelines regarding the tabulation of results. According to the Election Code, the Commission is required to announce the total votes received and the distribution of seats among all participating parties and coalitions no later than four days following the election day. Furthermore, the names of the elected Members of Parliament must be officially published within seven days of the election.

These proceedings mark the eighth parliamentary election conducted in Bulgaria since 2021. The continuous work of the election commission is crucial for establishing the final mandate of the legislative body. The preliminary release of this information provides an early indication of the political landscape, although final certification awaits the completion of the vote count across all designated areas.

Stakeholders await the official pronouncements from the commission regarding the final composition of the parliament.
