Election Commission: With 68.34% of Tally Sheets Processed, Progressive Bulgaria Leads with 44.5%, Second Is CC-DB with 14.0%

The Central Election Commission (CEC) has released interim results following the parliamentary election held on April 19. These preliminary figures represent the processing of 68.34% of the total tally sheets, compiled by section election commissions and subsequently processed at the constituency election commissions, as of 7:00 am on Monday. These reports mark the eighth parliamentary election in Bulgaria since 2021.

The CEC operates under specific guidelines detailed in the Election Code regarding the announcement of final outcomes. According to the code, the commission is mandated to announce the total votes received and the subsequent distribution of seats among participating parties and coalitions no later than four days after the election day. Furthermore, the names of the successfully elected Members of Parliament must be formally published within a seven-day timeframe following the vote.

The release of these preliminary results provides an initial overview of the voting patterns across the country. The ongoing work of the various election commissions is critical to finalizing the results. As the processing of the remaining tally sheets continues, the CEC will work to solidify the final vote count.

The procedural steps outlined in the Election Code govern the transition from preliminary data to the official declaration of the legislative body’s composition.
