Election Commission: With 91.68% of Tally Sheets Processed, Progressive Bulgaria Leads with 44.7%, Second Is GERB-UDF with 13.4%

The Central Election Commission (CEC) has released preliminary results stemming from the parliamentary election held on April 19. As of 10:00 AM on Monday, the initial processing was based on 91.68% of the total tally sheets submitted by section and constituency election commissions. The CEC also confirmed which political parties and coalitions successfully surpassed the mandatory 4% electoral threshold.

These proceedings marked the eighth parliamentary election in Bulgaria since 2021. The announcement of these preliminary figures adheres to the established electoral schedule, though the final tabulation remains pending. Under the guidelines set forth by the Election Code, the CEC is legally required to announce the detailed vote counts and the resulting distribution of seats among all participating parties and coalitions no later than four days following the election day.

Furthermore, the official names of the elected Members of Parliament must be published within seven days of the election. The preliminary nature of the data means that the final declaration of results is contingent upon the processing of all remaining tally sheets by the various commissions. The ongoing work of the commission is crucial to finalizing the electoral outcome.

Stakeholders are awaiting the full certification process, which will solidify the definitive results of the election.
