The Veselyatsite folk fitness group from Madrid and the Severnyatsi folk dance formation from Segovia, Spain, are scheduled to participate together at the eleventh edition of “Expats Join Hands in Worldwide Dance.” This international gathering of amateur folklore ensembles will take place from May 15 to 17 at BMW Park in Munich, Germany. The performance prepared by the Veselyatsite group is designed to recreate the memories of an elderly couple. According to group leader Mariyana Topalska, the routine depicts a couple reminiscing about their own youth and romance while awaiting a wedding ceremony for their daughter.
Topalska stated that the underlying theme is the transience of life, emphasizing that love remains the enduring element. The Severnyatsi formation, established in 2015 and led by Galya Marinova, is joining the effort to present Bulgarian culture to a global audience. Topalska noted that the choreography resulted from a collaborative effort between the dancers of both groups and the former leader of Severnyatsi, Antoniy Angelov.
The festival itself is dedicated to amateur folklore groups performing outside of Bulgaria. The initiative was originally launched by the Ot Izvora group in Lyon, France, which hosted both the first edition in 2015 and the tenth edition in 2025.
