The Chemshir Bulgarian Folklore Club, located in Armagh, Northern Ireland, is scheduled to participate in a joint performance with the Detelini Dance Folklore Ensemble of Athens. This collaboration will take place at the 11th Expats Join Hands in Worldwide Dance travelling festival in Munich, running from May 15 to May 17. The performance is set to showcase dancers representing multiple nations, including Greece, Northern Ireland, Cyprus, and the USA.
According to Plamena Chemshirova, the leader of the dance group, the event is significant as a representation of the global unity of Bulgarian dancers. The group plans to perform a Thracian dance originating from the Pazardzhik Region. Chemshirova explained that the choreography narrates themes of youthful romance, the strength of friendship, and the inherent magic of the Bulgarian horo, which she described as a connection point for love.
The Expats Join Hands in Worldwide Dance travelling festival is dedicated to amateur folklore ensembles performing outside of Bulgaria. The initiative was established by the Ot Izvora group in Lyon, France, which has hosted both the inaugural edition in 2015 and the tenth edition in 2025. Organizers anticipate attendance from over 100 dance ensembles and more than 4,000 guests at the Munich festival.
The Bulgarian News Agency (BTA) serves as the official media partner for the event and will provide coverage for all participants.
