The Chemshir Bulgarian Folklore Club, based in Armagh, Northern Ireland, is scheduled to participate in a collaborative performance at the 11th Expats Join Hands in Worldwide Dance travelling festival. This event will take place in Munich from May 15 to 17. The performance will feature dancers representing several nations, including Greece, Northern Ireland, Cyprus, and the USA.
According to dance group leader Plamena Chemshirova, the collaboration is significant as a representation of the global connection of Bulgarian dancers. The group plans to present a Thracian dance originating from the Pazardzhik Region. Chemshirova explained that the choreography narrates themes of young love, the strength of friendship, and the inherent magic of the Bulgarian horo, which she stated connects people through emotion.
The Expats Join Hands in Worldwide Dance festival is specifically organized for amateur folklore ensembles performing outside of Bulgaria. The initiative was founded by the Ot Izvora group in Lyon, France, which has hosted the festival previously, including the first edition in 2015 and the tenth in 2025. Organizers anticipate a large turnout for the 11th edition in Munich, expecting over 100 dance ensembles and more than 4,000 attendees.
The Bulgarian News Agency (BTA) serves as the official media partner for the event and will provide coverage of all participants.
