Folklore Club from Northern Ireland to Perform Collaboration With Detelini Folklore Ensemble from Athens

The Chemshir Bulgarian Folklore Club of Armagh, Northern Ireland, is scheduled to participate in a joint performance with the Detelini Dance Folklore Ensemble from Athens. This collaboration is set to take place at the 11th Expats Join Hands in Worldwide Dance travelling festival in Munich, running from May 15 to May 17. The performance is expected to showcase talent from multiple nations, including Greece, Northern Ireland, Cyprus, and the USA.

According to Plamena Chemshirova, the dance group leader, the collaboration is significant as a representation of the global community of Bulgarian dancers. The group plans to present a Thracian dance originating from the Pazardzhik Region. Chemshirova explained that the choreography narrates themes of youthful love, the strength of friendship, and the inherent magic of the Bulgarian horo, which she described as a connection to love.

The Expats Join Hands in Worldwide Dance travelling festival is dedicated to amateur folklore ensembles performing outside of Bulgaria. The initiative was established by the Ot Izvora group in Lyon, France, which has hosted previous editions, including the first in 2015 and the tenth in 2025. Organizers anticipate the 11th edition in Munich will host over 100 dance ensembles and an attendance of more than 4,000 guests.

The Bulgarian News Agency (BTA) serves as the official media partner for the event and will feature all participating groups.
