The Bulgarian author Georgi Gospodinov has announced the publication of his novel, Time Shelter, in Japan. Gospodinov confirmed on social media that the book was released in April by the Kayakawa publishing house in Tokyo. According to reports surrounding the release, Time Shelter marks the first Bulgarian novel to be published in Japan since 1989, representing a notable achievement for international literature exchange. The novel has shown strong initial commercial success, currently ranking among the top five best-selling foreign publications on Amazon Japan. The translation of the work into Japanese was handled by Kenji Terashima.
