Hotel Devin Aims to Position Rhodope Area Among Leaders in Health Tourism

SPA Hotel Devin intends to position the Rhodope area as a leader in health tourism by continuing its established traditions of balneotherapy. According to the hotel manager, Dzheylyan Kokalova, the region was historically recognized as a natural sanatorium for ailments such as respiratory issues, bone diseases, and chronic stress. The hotel’s spa center utilizes mineral water sourced from the Bedenski thermal spring, offering treatments beneficial for preventing musculoskeletal disorders.

Key offerings for the upcoming season include the Healthy Joints package, which combines mineral water treatments, mud therapy, and physiotherapy. Specialized programs are available, such as Movement Without Pain for rehabilitation following injuries, and an Anti-Stress and Relax package integrating water therapies and massages for nervous system support. The facility is equipped with an indoor mineral pool, an outdoor hot tub, sauna, steam bath, and a modern physiotherapy section.

The hotel complements its wellness offerings with the Bulgarian Village restaurant, which serves traditional Rhodope cuisine made from local natural products. Hotel Devin anticipates welcoming Bulgarian tourists seeking a balance between mountain tranquility and professional healthcare, while also expecting Israeli visitors, who have patronized the hotel since 2003. The management team notes that the spa center combines modern medical technology with the region’s rich mineral resources.

In a broader industry context, BTA is featuring certified wellness centers across Bulgaria in its “BG SPA: Salus per aquam” initiative, which is linked to the international HEALTHXCHANGE SUMMIT scheduled for 2026, emphasizing the growth of health tourism in the nation.
