During the 20th edition of the Investor of the Year 2025 competition, President Iliana Iotova addressed attendees at the Hyatt Regency Sofia hotel. The event, organized by the InvestBulgaria Agency (BIA), recognized companies and projects contributing to Bulgaria’s economic growth, job creation, and innovation. Speaking to the gathered business community, President Iotova emphasized that the activities of investors enhance confidence in Bulgaria as a favorable environment for commerce.
She thanked the investors for their entrepreneurial efforts, noting that their work strengthens the country’s reputation as a reliable place for business development. In addressing the current economic climate, Iotova advised that navigating difficult and turbulent times requires flexibility, not only to protect existing investments but also to plan for future growth. She stressed that ambition, professionalism, and insight are vital, concluding that human capital remains the most critical factor for any economic system.
Looking toward national development, the President highlighted Bulgaria’s status as one of six EU nations slated to host a major European gigafactory. Iotova called for the construction of this facility alongside necessary infrastructure, positioning Bulgaria as a regional leader. She stated that European understanding has shifted toward prioritizing the development of domestic European industry.
The award ceremony also marked the 30th anniversary of the InvestBulgaria Agency. The recognition given to the top investor of the year serves to honor those who drive sustainable growth and economic diversification within the country.
