In a statement released on Monday via his official Facebook page, Velichie party leader Ivelin Mihaylov addressed the early parliamentary election results. According to the processed tally sheets, which accounted for 96.41% of the votes, the party secured 3.12%, falling short of the 4% threshold required for entry into the National Assembly. Mihaylov stated that achieving representation at the 4% level would offer no strategic advantage.
He suggested that it would be more beneficial for the electorate’s votes to support Rumen Radev. Consequently, he announced that Velichie would reorient itself into a party focused exclusively on its core membership and dedicated supporters. The leader criticized the current political landscape, contrasting it with the party’s original vision of a society where knowledgeable citizens could thrive alongside oligarchs who would share equal rights.
Mihaylov noted that the current reality involves oligarchs holding absolute power. He affirmed that the party would henceforth act solely to protect its registered electorate, rather than advocating for broader public interests. Furthermore, Mihaylov confirmed that Velichie would not challenge Rumen Radev in the upcoming presidential elections.
He detailed that the party would undergo comprehensive economic and political restructuring aimed at improving the welfare of its voters and members. He clarified that his subsequent actions would be those of a private citizen rather than a public representative, signaling a shift from representing the general populace to serving a more defined segment of society.
