Leader Vassilev Sidesteps Question on Future of CC-DB Coalition before Key Group Meeting

Continue the Change leader, Assen Vassilev, declined to address questions regarding the potential dissolution of the Continue the Change – Democratic Bulgaria coalition. He indicated that his comments on the matter would wait until following the parliamentary group meeting and the anticipated leaders’ gathering of the coalition parties. Before speaking to journalists, Vassilev emphasized the budget balance, stating, “The most important news today is that the budget balance is zero, so there are no problems or concerns for Bulgarian citizens or for Bulgaria’s budget.

I will answer all other questions after the meeting.”

The political context was set by a decision from the National Council of Yes, Bulgaria, adopted on April 24. This council tasked the party with proposing a draft coalition agreement for both Democrats for a Strong Bulgaria and Continue the Change, a document that has not yet materialized. Furthermore, the decision mandated the preparation of a roadmap aimed at establishing a unified democratic centre-right political entity involving the current coalition members and other external participants.

Ahead of the scheduled assembly, the co-chairs of Yes, Bulgaria, Ivaylo Mirchev and Bozhidar Bozhanov, also voiced their expectations and renewed calls for unity within the CC-DB coalition. These developments underscore ongoing efforts to consolidate the political bloc, with the outcome of the upcoming leaders’ meeting expected to guide the next steps for the broader political coalition.
