Bulgarian weightlifter Karlos Nasar secured his fourth European title at the European Championships held in Batumi. Competing in the men’s 94 kg weight class, Nasar achieved a total lift of 386 kg to claim the gold medal. Nasar established an early lead in the snatch portion of the competition with a lift of 176 kg, which he complemented with a clean and jerk of 210 kg, resulting in a dominant overall performance.
During the snatch, Nasar successfully lifted 176 kg after opening at 170 kg to secure the gold medal in that discipline. In his final attempt, he attempted a world record lift of 183 kg but was unsuccessful. In the clean and jerk, Nasar’s initial lift of 210 kg was invalidated by the judges following a review.
He subsequently repeated the lift successfully on his second attempt. For his final clean and jerk attempt, Nasar targeted a world record total with a lift of 223 kg, but this attempt was not completed. The competition saw Ara Aganyan of Armenia finish in second place with a total of 381 kg.
Romain Imadouchene from France secured the bronze medal with a total of 370 kg. This victory marks the fourth European title for Nasar.
