Parliament to Feature Six Parliamentary Groups, Floor Leaders Announced

The 52nd National Assembly’s parliamentary structure was outlined on Thursday when Parliament Chair Mihaela Dotsova announced the leaderships of its six parliamentary groups during the inaugural session. The groups and their respective leaderships were detailed as follows: Progressive Bulgaria is led by Petar Vitanov, with Deputy Floor Leaders Galin Durev, Vladimir Nikolov, Slavi Vassilev, and Olga Borisova. GERB-UDF features Boyko Borissov as its Floor Leader, supported by Deputy Floor Leaders Denitsa Sacheva, Kostadin Angelov, and Roumen Hristov.

The Movement for Rights and Freedoms is headed by Delyan Peevski, whose deputy floor leaders include Ayten Sabri, Halil Letifov, Hamid Hamid, and Iskra Mihaylova-Koparova. Democratic Bulgaria has Nadejda Iordanova as its Floor Leader, with Deputy Floor Leaders Bozhidar Bozhanov and Katya Paneva. Continue the Change is represented by Nikolay Denkov, whose deputy floor leaders are Ivaylo Shotev and Tatyana Sultanova-Siveva.

Finally, Vazrazhdane is led by Kostadin Kostadinov, with Peter Petrov serving as Deputy Floor Leader. Notably, following their participation in the elections as a coalition, the political blocs Continue the Change (CC) and Democratic Bulgaria (DB) announced a decision on Wednesday to separate into two distinct parliamentary groups. The leadership of Democratic Bulgaria characterized this split as “a serious political mistake.” In response, Continue the Change extended an invitation to sign an agreement establishing a joint parliamentary alliance, proposing the slogan “Strong Bulgaria in a Strong Europe.”
