Parliament to Feature Six Parliamentary Groups, Floor Leaders Announced

The 52nd National Assembly is now structured around six distinct parliamentary groups, following the announcement of their respective leaders by Parliament Chair Mihaela Dotsova during the inaugural session on Thursday. The composition of the groups was detailed as follows: Progressive Bulgaria features Petar Vitanov as its floor leader, supported by deputy leaders including Galin Durev, Vladimir Nikolov, Slavi Vassilev, and Olga Borisova. GERB-UDF is headed by Boyko Borissov, with Denitsa Sacheva, Kostadin Angelov, and Roumen Hristov serving as deputy leaders.

The Movement for Rights and Freedoms has Delyan Peevski as its floor leader, alongside deputy leaders such as Ayten Sabri, Halil Letifov, Hamid Hamid, and Iskra Mihaylova-Koparova. Democratic Bulgaria is represented by Nadejda Iordanova, whose floor leader role is supported by Bozhidar Bozhanov and Katya Paneva. Continue the Change is led by Nikolay Denkov, with Ivaylo Shotev and Tatyana Sultanova-Siveva as deputy leaders.

Finally, Vazrazhdane has Kostadin Kostadinov as its floor leader, supported by Peter Petrov. Notably, the groups Continue the Change (CC) and Democratic Bulgaria (DB), which had participated in the elections as a coalition, opted to separate into two separate parliamentary groups on Wednesday. While DB leadership characterized the separation as a “serious political mistake,” CC subsequently extended an invitation to sign an agreement aimed at forming a joint parliamentary alliance under the banner of “Strong Bulgaria in a Strong Europe.”
