Producer Price Growth in Bulgaria Slows to 8.1% Year-on-Year in March

Industrial producer price growth in Bulgaria moderated in march, according to data released by the National Statistical Institute (NSI). The overall Producer Price Index in industry recorded an 8.1% increase compared to the same period the previous year, although it saw a slight dip of 0.8% when compared to the preceding month. Analyzing the monthly shifts, the NSI reported that lower prices were observed in the production and distribution of electricity, heat, and gas, which decreased by 7.7% relative to February.

Conversely, the mining sector registered an increase of 3.3%, and manufacturing saw a rise of 2.2%. Examining the annual trends for march, price growth was significant across key sectors. The mining industry reported a 40.4% year-on-year increase, while manufacturing prices rose by 4.9%.

The production and distribution of electricity, heat, and gas showed an annual increase of 0.8%. Contextually, the beginning of the year showed robust activity. In January, industrial producer prices rose by 5.9% month-on-month and 11.3% year-on-year.

The upward momentum slowed in February, with producer prices increasing by 0.1% month-on-month and 8.4% year-on-year.
