Producer Price Growth in Bulgaria Slows to 8.1% Year-on-Year in March

Industrial producer prices in Bulgaria experienced a slowdown in march, rising by 8.1% year-on-year, according to data released by the National Statistical Institute (NSI). For the month of march 2026, the overall Producer Price Index (PPI) in the industry registered a month-over-month decrease of 0.8% compared to the preceding month, though it remained 8.1% higher than the level recorded in march 2025. Analyzing the components, the NSI noted that prices for the production and distribution of electricity, heat, and gas fell by 7.7% compared to February.

Conversely, increases were reported in the mining sector (up 3.3%) and the manufacturing industry (up 2.2%). On an annual basis for march, price growth was registered in the mining industry (up 40.4%), manufacturing (up 4.9%), and the production and distribution of electricity, heat, and gas (up 0.8%). Looking at the broader trends, the year began with industrial producer price increases of 5.9% month-on-month and 11.3% year-on-year, according to NSI data.

The preceding month, February, showed a deceleration in this upward trend, with prices rising by 0.1% on a monthly basis and 8.4% year-on-year. These figures provide a detailed snapshot of the cost changes across key industrial sectors during the reporting period.
